It’s a truly enchanting time, and you won’t believe how beautiful everything is. And if you’re planning a springtime adventure, let me tell you, Low Costa Mill is the perfect place to start.
A Sea of Daffodils in Farndale
Picture this: a vibrant carpet of wild daffodils stretching as far as the eye can see, all along the beautiful River Dove in Farndale. It’s one of the most breathtaking sights of spring in the North York Moors, and we highly recommend it to all our guests. This easy, scenic walk is a true springtime highlight.
The wild daffodils, smaller and more delicate than garden varieties, paint the landscape in a stunning yellow hue. As you walk, listen to the bubbling river and keep an eye out for lambs playing in the fields and the occasional hare.

Bluebells and the Enchanted Woodlands
May heralds the arrival of the enchanting bluebells, and it’s truly a spectacle to behold. These delicate flowers thrive in the moist, shady woodlands, providing a vital food source for pollinators. For a memorable hike, try the challenging 8-mile walk to Riccal Dale Woods from Helmsley Market Place. There’s something truly magical about bluebell woods. Local folklore whispers that bluebell woods are enchanted, with delicate bells ringing to summon fairies! But these slow-growing flowers are fragile and protected. Please enjoy them without disturbing them. Uprooting them is illegal, so let’s preserve their beauty for future generations.
