Firstly, below are some of the most common questions we get asked at Low Costa Mill. However please do get in touch to ask us anything we haven't covered.  Remember, we live in the farmhouse and are available to offer help and advice during your stay.

Comings and Goings

What time is check in?

Check in is from 4pm until 9pm unless previously arranged with us.   On arrival please call at reception where we will check you in.   Please contact us if you expect to arrive after 9pm.

What time is check out?

Check out is by 9.30am unless previously arranged with us.

Is car parking available?

Yes, we have ample space for cars, however please park considerately to other guests in the marked spaces.

Can we get a supermarket delivery?

Of course, Tesco, Sainsbury, ASDA, Morrisons and Waitrose all deliver to Low Costa Mill. We are unable to supervise deliveries, therefore please arrange delivery after your planned arrival time.

Can we have visitors?

Yes of course, day visitors are welcome between 10am and 8pm. However, for insurance reasons additional day guests are not permitted to stay overnight, or to use the swimming pool.

Can I bring my pet to Low Costa Mill?

Yes, we welcome up to two dogs in five of our cottages.  Please note we do not allow puppies under the age of 1 at Low Costa Mill.

Around the Cottage

When I book a holiday at Low Costa Mill, what is include?

    • We provide all bed linen and towels for the cottage (if you plan to use our pool please bring additional towels)

    • Washing up liquid, dishcloth & sponge, kitchen roll, dishwasher tablets, cleaning spray, tea towels, toilet roll (2 per bathroom) and hand soap are provided

    • High speed fibre WiFi is available across the site and is provided free of charge.

    • Matches, Kindling and Logs are provided for your first fire, in addition to one complementary bucket of logs per day.

    • Electricity/heating is included within the rental price

Do you provide a cot or highchair?

Yes, we can provide travel cots and highchairs,  just let us know if you require any of these when you book.  Note: Cots are provided with a bottom sheet only, please bring the relevant bedding for your infant.

Do you provide an iron / ironing board?

Yes, and a vacuum cleaner, dustpan and brush. Additionally, we also provide hair dryers in each cottage.

Is there a kitchen?

Each cottage has a full kitchen with the following:

    • Electric Hob (some induction hobs) & Extractor Fan

    • Electric Oven

    • Microwave

    • Toaster

    • Kettle

    • Dishwasher (except Carter’s Cottage)

    • Kitchens are well equipped with crockery/cutlery/glasses as well as utensils/pans etc, and are in line with Visit Britain standards.

Is there a freezer in the cottage?

All cottages have a minimum of a freezer compartment within the fridge.  Access to further freezer space is available in the Laundry.    Heron View and The Granary have a fridge/freezer, plus Harvester Cottage and Thresher Cottage have a separate undercounter freezer.

Are there any laundry facilities on site?

Yes, Heron View, Leat Cottage and The Granary all have their own washing machine. Additionally there is also a shared guest laundry on site (open 24 hours a day) which has two washing machines and a tumble dryer.  Plus each cottage has a clothes airer and access to the washing line.

Is there outdoor seating?

All cottages except The Granary have seating outside.  There is ample outdoor seating across the site including picnic benches on the main lawn and play area.

Can we have a BBQ?

Yes, we have BBQ’s available for guest use, mostly Weber style, which can either be used with charcoal, (please provide your own charcoal) or for standing disposable BBQs on.

Can you store my roof box, bikes, canoe?

We have 4 secure bike pods which can be used to store upto 4 bikes each. Please ask us for a key.  They are located next to a dedicated bike tool tree and wash area.  For anything else will do our best!

Can I charge my Electric Car?

Absolutely.  We have a 7 kWh Type 2 EV charger to charge your electric vehicle during your stay.  Please ask for our current tariff.

How far is it to the nearest town / pub / can we get a takeaway?

    • Pickering is 1.5 miles away, has plenty of small independent shops plus a Co-op and Lidl.

    • The Middleton Arms is around 1 mile away, child-friendly and serves a varied seasonal menu. There are further excellent pub & restaurant options within a couple of miles in all directions.

    • For Takeaways, Noyon (Indian), Fortune Inn (Cantonese) Chiccos Pizza and Bits n Pizza all deliver, or there are several other self collect options in Pickering town.

Do I need a fishing licence to fish?

Low Costa Mill Holiday Cottage Heated Indoor Swimming Pool

How does the Swimming Pool operate?

    • Our swimming pool is open 9am – 9pm daily / 4pm – 9pm on a Friday.

    • Between the hours of 9am - 3pm the pool is open for private bookable slots only.

    • From 3pm - 9pm the pool is open to all guests (maximum 12 guests in the pool at any one time).

    • Full details on how to book private slots will be sent in your pre-arrival email.

    • In the pool lobby, there is a large selection of tourist information leaflets, along with books, games and local maps available to borrow.
