Our Swimming Pool and facilities are open all year at Low Costa Mill holiday cottages, including Christmas and New Year. A perfect place for both winter and summer holidays.
Accommodating between two and eight guests, at Low Costa Mill our cottages vary in size to suit your family. All are furnished to a very high standard throughout, with well equipped kitchens. Together with all bedding, towels, electricity and heating, including logs for the cosy open fires, there's everything you need. Please bring your own pool towels if you intend to use our pool .
All cottages benefit from access to the free site wide high-speed fibre WiFi network. Click here for Site Plan to see layout of the cottages.
The courtyard provides ample off-road car parking next to the cottages.
Indoor Heated Pool
Whatever the weather, you can be guaranteed hours of fun in our indoor heated swimming pool. For the little ones there is an adjacent children’s pool – both are open the whole year round. Bring your own inflatable toys for extra fun.
The pool provides an ideal base for those less confident to learn to swim or improve their skills. In addition, there’s plenty of seating too for those wanting to watch or take photos.
Our pool is open 9am - 9pm (4pm - 9pm on a Friday). Guests are able to book their own private 50 minute slot in our pool between the hours of 9am and 3pm.
No need to book - from 3.00pm until 9pm the pool is open to all guests. (Max 12 guests in the pool at any one time).
Bicycle Facilities
Our project for Winter 2019 was the addition of our new cycle-friendly facilities for our guests. We have four secure bike pods for guest use and each can hold up to 4 bikes.
Children's Play Area and Woodland
Low Costa Mill is the ideal place to let your children run around and explore. Our children's play area includes a treehouse, climbing frame, swings, a fully enclosed sandpit, giant games of draughts, hopscotch and snakes and ladders. There's also plenty of grass for a family game of cricket, rounders or football and seating for the spectators. In summary, plenty of activities and space to burn off some of that excess energy.
Our Woodland Walk is accessed from the play area, start at the green frog; what will you find? Amble through the trees to find Winnie-the-Pooh in his house, our gargoyle, a giant Bug Hotel and plenty more along the way. Together with Dr Who’s Tardis, there's plenty to see!
Dog Exercise Paddock
Dogs are welcome at Low Costa Mill. We have a dedicated, enclosed paddock of at least ½ acre where you can let your dog off lead. Especially handy for early morning walks, as well as exercising and playing ball with your dog. Please see our full terms and conditions regarding Dogs at Low Costa Mill.
Children’s Equipment
Travel cots, highchairs and stairgates can all be provided free of charge on request. Always discuss your requirements with us when you are booking.
Our Animals
On-site, we currently have ten pygmy goats, six rare breed sheep, a cockerel and ten chickens who often provide us (and our guests) with some tasty fresh eggs. Not to mention the very friendly stable cats which live in the barn but can often be found lounging in the sun! We often have horses in our Paddocks too.
Wildlife
Wildlife is all around us at Low Costa Mill. Importantly, our two large ponds are fully fenced, along with the river they are home to a large variety of wild-life. We often find ducks, moor-hens, herons, geese, swans and the beautiful kingfisher around. As well as brown trout and grayling in the river. Very occasionally, the otter can be spotted in the banks of the river, unfortunately I’ve been unable to capture him on camera! Additionally, we have several bird boxes placed through the woodland walk to encourage nesting. Together with rabbits, squirrels, owls, pheasants, hedgehogs, bats and even the occasional deer there's plenty to spot.
BARBECUES
For those evenings where you fancy cooking alfresco, we have a number of charcoal barbecues available for our guests to use. Equally important, there are ample outdoor dining areas available outside the cottages or on the lawns.
Wi-Fi
There is a free high speed fibre connection capable of over 300Mbps available across our site. As well as in the cottages, this includes the pool building and the play area. Particularly handy for those who like to keep an eye online at all times!
ON-SITE FLY FISHING
For Fly fishing fanatics, this comes free of charge, subject to holding the relevant rod licence. You will find the Costa Beck is well stocked with trout & grayling. Indeed, you may even catch a glimpse of the resident kingfishers & the shy grey heron around the river.
Fitness Fanatic?
As well as our pool we have 3 run route cards available for guests to use. A 5k, 7k and 11k route, all direct from the door of your cottage. In addition, there are also two local park-runs in the area, the closest one is at Dalby Forest. An alternative park-run route can be found a short drive away North Yorkshire Water Park at Wykeham Lakes.
Information Area
Our information area in the swimming lobby has an extensive range of leaflets, guide books and walking/cycle routes for the local area to help you plan your holiday. Additionally, there is a selection of selection of children's story books, jigsaws and games available to borrow.

Not glamorous, we know, but always useful on holiday. Heron View, The Granary and Leat Cottage all have their own washing machine.
For those cottages without a washing machine there is a shared laundry room on site. Complete with 2 free to use washing machines, a pay per use tumble drier and a drying rack. Additionally, each cottage has a clothes airer, as well as access to the washing line with pegs available for guest use in the communal garden. There is also a shared freezer available for use in the guest laundry
Electric Vehicles
You are able to use our Type 2 EV charger (not fast charge) to charge your EV vehicle during your stay. It is located within the reception courtyard. Please request use first, and ensure your vehicle is moved into the main customer car park once charging is complete. We ask that you make payment to the reception at the end of your stay depending on the amount of electricity your vehicle has used.
Together with a range of charging points across Ryedale you can explore without worry, these can be found in Pickering, Malton, Kirbymoorside and Helmsley. There are also plenty of charging points available in York, Scarborough and Whitby. Please do ask if you need further details on charging points in the area, or visit https://www.zap-map.com/live/ and enter "Pickering" in the search box for more details.
